NEW YORK (www.finalscratch.com) - Born in Libya and raised in Switzerland, Hisham Samawi is quickly becoming one of the most respected new artists emerging from New York's dance music scene. As a DJ, Hisham implements an amalgam of obscure tracks to create epic dance floor odysseys that have earned him high praise from industry press and fellow DJs. Like so many other cutting-edge DJs and dance music producers, his main tool for the creation of his exciting, innovative sound is Stanton's FinalScratch®.
"FinalScratch has changed my approach to DJing because it has allowed me to personalize the records I buy and play" says Samawi. "I used to hate making re-edits of tracks I had on vinyl because that meant I would have to play them off of CDs, which was never as fun for me as mixing records. FinalScratch has made my performances so much more fun because I have so much more music at my disposal, and most of it has been personalized by me in the studio.
There's nothing better than being able to mix my new productions like they were already on vinyl."

Pablo La Rosa, Stanton's Marketing Manager says, "Hisham Samawi is an excellent example of an artist who embraces new technology to make it work in ways that inspire his creativity.
We're proud that FinalScratch has become such an integral part of his creative tools."

Samawi was recently honored by URB magazine with their "Best New Tune" award ("Cowbell" by the Dirty Gringos) at the 2003 Winter Music Conference. Two new original tracks by Samawi can be found on the artist's debut release on the Native Theory label, and several new original tracks are slated for release later this year. The busy DJ spent the early part of 2004 touring Asia with headlining gigs in Bangkok, Singapore and Dubai, as well as journeying back to the States to grace the decks at major New York clubs including Centro-Fly, Discotheque, Filter 14, and Sullivan Room. He's also often working his magic with his FinalScratch system in cities such as Charlotte, Los Angeles, Chicago and Miami.

NATIVE THEORY's debut release NT001 "Holding On / Spirals" (as featured on James Zabiela's Renaissance Alive album) is out August 17th.
More information, music and tour dates for Hisham Samawi can be found at his label web site, www.nativetheory.com.
