NASHVILLE, TN (Americana Music Association/ www.americanamusic.org) - Longtime music, radio and trade association executive Jeff Green has been appointed Executive Director for the Americana Music Association, effective October 15. Green succeeds founding AMA Executive Director J.D. May, who is joining Nashville-based creative business services company echomusic as Partner later this year.

Green's duties will include overseeing all aspects of the Americana Music Association including staffing and administration, sponsorship development and sales, the annual conference, membership development, projects and committees, among other duties. Reporting to the AMA's 19-member Board of Directors, he will work with them to shape and create new policies and opportunities.
'Jeff brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the position and will be a tremendous asset to the organization going forward. His past work has provided him with detailed knowledge of the many challenges and opportunities the Americana Music Association will face in the future,' says Brad Paul, current President of the Board of Directors.
'I'm thrilled to have an individual of Jeff's caliber coming in as the next Executive Director for the Americana Music Association,' adds J.D. May. 'He is a dedicated and passionate leader who presents a clear vision of the promise and opportunities for Americana music. I have no doubt he will raise the profile of the Americana industry while also creating numerous new resources and opportunities for members of our association.'

A 27-year industry veteran, Green has been Executive Editor at trade publication Radio & Records since January 2002, based in Nashville. Green previously served nine years in senior management with the Country Music Association, overseeing international, strategic marketing, new media and new business development.

Green says, "The Americana community of artists, music executives and broadcasters represents an alliance of creative professionals with integrity and talent for which I have great respect and appreciation. In only a few years, the AMA has ascended to a full-service organization with a tremendous future. J.D. May's contributions as founding executive director have been immeasurable, and it's great to know he will still be close at hand. This opportunity is a career milestone for me, and I'm ready to work hard to help advance the Association to the next levels."

Green's background includes four years as a Marketing Director at Film House in Nashville, two years as Associate Publisher/Editor-in-Chief for Music & Media in Amsterdam, and six years as Managing Editor and AC Editor for Radio & Records in Los Angeles. Green, who earlier held positions in record/video promotion and radio production/programming in Northern California, also is President/CEO of Professional Desk References, Inc., publisher of the best-selling Green Book Of Songs By Subject: The Thematic Guide To Popular Music.
