New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Paper Jets official website) The Paper Jets, a three-piece alt-rock/powerpop band, is jumpstarting the powerpop genre with its debut full-length album, We Are All Strange Friends, which will be released on Tuesday, January 28, 2014. Influenced by classic bands such as Big Star and
Cheap Trick as well as more modern acts such as Ben Folds, Spoon, and Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, the album weaves elements of hard rock, jazz, and prog-rock into its indie, alternative, punk, and pop-based stew, creating a fresh sound for a genre long in need of an overhaul.
Featuring 11 tracks, including the previously released "Cooking Up an Accident" and Hurricane
Sandy benefit single "It's Only Talk," the album will be introduced by new single "Set of Rules," which is set for release as a digital single in November. Featuring a bouncy guitar-and-piano riff and an earwormy chorus courtesy of lead singer/guitar player Brian E., the song embodies the band's poppier side, while more experimental numbers like "Father's War" and "
Now You're Gone" add nuance to the album as a whole.
"It was important to us that this album sound like an album, rather than a collection of songs," said Brian E. "For example, the record begins and ends with the voice of our good friend Tim Ryan, who played piano on the album but passed away before it could be completed. We're dedicating this record to him and hope we did him proud."

About The Paper Jets:
Consisting of Brian E. (vocals/guitar), Frank Lettieri (drums/vocals), and
Scottie Maloney (bass), The Paper Jets were formed in 2005 when Brian and Frank, then students at Rider University, attempted a senior thesis project in which they recorded a full album using only "consumer" recording equipment. Since then, they have released the mini-LP Face Forward in 2009 and the live concert DVD Bored in Town in 2011, which was packaged with the odds-and-sods collection Sorta Bored. The band also recorded a cover of Bruce Springsteen's "Atlantic City" for the compilation album My Hometown: A Tribute to NJ, released in July 2013 by FDR Records. All proceeds from the album go to the Hurricane
Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund.
The band has performed live at significant venues such as The Trocadero and World Café Live in Philadelphia; The Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ; Sullivan Hall and The Bitter End in New York City; and The Abbey Pub in Chicago. They have also played at the
Stress Free Summer Festival in Croton-on-Hudson, NY; the
National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, DC (where they performed in front of the Washington Monument); and the Heritage Festival in Trenton, NJ.
The band is based in Princeton, NJ.
