NEW YORK (Top40 Charts)- It was another beautiful day for members of U2, as the veteran Irish band and its acclaimed album, All That You Can't Leave Behind, picked up a leading eight nominations for the upcoming 44th Annual GRAMMY Awards.

The group snagged nominations in the top three categories -- Album, Song ("Stuck in a Moment You Can't Get Out Of"), and Record ("Walk On") of the Year, and will compete against itself in the Best Rock Song listing for "Elevation" and "Walk On." U2 won Record and Song of the Year GRAMMYs in 2001 for "Beautiful Day," which was released before the Sept. 30 cutoff.

India.Arie
Rookie neo-soul singer India.Arie, who was all but unheard of one year ago, had herself quite a day, as well, by garnering seven nods -- including Record and Song of the Year for "Video" and Album of the Year -- while the year's other freshman female soul singer, Alicia Keys, earned six nominations, including Record and Song of the Year for "Fallin'."

Classical conductor Pierre Boulez also received six of the nominations, which were unveiled Friday (Jan. 4) at a morning press conference at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills and were announced by Nelly Furtado, India.Arie, Ja Rule, Usher, members of Outkast and Train, and NARAS president Michael Greene.

Country singer Alison Krauss, R&B vocalist Brian McKnight, and Outkast scored five nominations each, while country-rock performer and producer T-Bone Burnett, Furtado, Train, Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, and Lucinda Williams each had four. Jamie O'Neal had two songwriting nominations for Best Country Song for her tracks "There Is No Arizona'' and "When I Think About Angels.''

The Album of the Year category is wide open and well marked by diversity this year, where the nominees were Bob Dylan (who won the award in 1997) for Love and Theft, India.Arie's Acoustic Soul, Stankonia from Atlanta rappers Outkast, U2's All That You Can't Leave Behind, and the bluegrass soundtrack from the hit movie O Brother, Where Art Thou?

Alicia Keys
Nominees for Best New Artist are Furtado, singer David Gray, rock band Linkin Park -- whose Hybrid Theory was the year's best selling album at 4.1 million -- along with Keys and India.Arie.

In the new category of Best Rap/Sung Collaboration, nominations went to Eve and Gwen Stefani for "Let Me Blow Ya Mind,'' Ja Rule and Case for "Livin' It Up,'' Jagged Edge and Nelly for "Where the Party At,'' Ludacris and Nate Dogg for "Area Codes,'' and Mystic and Planet Asia for "W.''

Best Rock Album nominations go to former Whiskeytown singer Ryan Adams' Gold, Aerosmith's Just Push Play, P.J .Harvey's Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea, Linkin Park's Hybrid Theory, and U2's All That You Can't Leave Behind.

The 44th Annual GRAMMY Awards will take place on Feb. 27 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles and air live on CBS.
