New York, NY (Top40 Charts) BMG mourns the passing of Loretta Lynn, one of the most beloved figures in Country music. Born in 1932, Lynn passed away on October 4 at the age of 90.

Lynn first became part of the music scene in the 60s before rising to become the Number One female recording artist in Country music. Among her many hit songs, she is most notable for her 70s Number One hit 'Coal Miner's Daughter', which would go on to serve as the title of her bestselling autobiography and Academy Award-winning biopic.

While Lynn is more often recognized as a recording and performing artist, BMG is the proud music publisher of some of her seminal songwriting works including 1975s '(Since I've Got) The Pill' - one of the first songs to discuss birth control, her critically-acclaimed album Van Lear Rose ('Miss Being Mrs.', 'Portland Oregon'), which was nominated for five Grammy Awards, winning for Best Country Album and Best Country Collaboration with Vocals; and her co-writes with Elvis Costello on 'I Felt The Chill Before The Winter Came' from his studio album Secret, Profane & Sugarcane and 'Pardon Me, Madam, My Name Is Eve' from his studio album Momofuku.

Throughout her career, Lynn received numerous accolades for her groundbreaking role in country music including CMA and ACM awards (ACM Awards Artist of the Decade 1970s - to date the only female artist to receive the honor), and 18 Grammy Award nominations, scoring 24 Number One singles and 11 Number One albums.
