Atlanta, GA. (Top40 Charts/ Interscope Records) Scotty McCreery will headline the annual Lenox Square Christmas tree lighting on Thanksgiving, November 24, 2011 from 7 to 8 p.m.
Gospel duo Mary Mary, who are also judges on BET's "Sunday Best," and Marietta's own Melanie Moore, winner of this past season's "So You Think You Can Dance," will join him at this free event sponsored by Macy's.
Channel 2 Action News Monica Pearson and David Chandley will co-anchor the ceremony on TV from 7 to 8 p.m. A pre-show concert begins at 6:15 p.m.
McCreery's first single 'I Love You This Big' peaked at No. 15 on the country charts. His current single 'The Trouble With Girls' is at No. 32. His album 'Clear as Day' has sold about 384,000 copies to date.
In past years, the tree lighting has drawn plenty of 'Idol' acts, including Mandisa and Katharine McPhee. Macy’s in recent years has also brought in pop, country, and Christian acts such as Third Day, Jewel, LeAnn Rimes, Josh Turner and Big & Rich.
