Charli XCX Sets US Headline Tour; High Profile Dates Celebrate Upcoming Debut Album Featuring The Hit Single, "You're The One" And The YouTube Smash "You (Ha Ha Ha)"
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) IAMSOUND recording artist Charli XCX has announced a series of high profile headline dates, all in celebration of her hugely anticipated debut album. "TRUE ROMANCE" - which includes the hit singles "You're The One" and "You (Ha Ha Ha)" - arrives in stores and at all digital retailers on April 16th and can be pre-ordered on iTunes at https://smarturl.it/TrueRomance.

The headline dates are slated to get underway May 31st at Brooklyn's Glasslands and then travel the country through mid-June (see below itinerary). An additional series of North American live dates will be revealed soon -- please see www.charlixcxmusic.com for up to the minute news and information.

In addition, Charli XCX is set to accompany Elektra recording artist Marina & The Diamonds on her upcoming "Lonely Hearts Club" headline tour. The North American trek kicks off May 6th at San Francisco's Warfield Theatre and then continues through a major New York City concert at the world famous Central Park SummerStage at Rumsey Playfield on May 29th. As if that weren't enough, Charli XCX will also be among the stars performing at this year's Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, slated for June 13th through 16th.

Charli XCX's non-stop tour schedule -- which also includes UK headline shows and a European tour alongside Ellie Goulding -- comes hot on the heels of the British-born singer/songwriter's phenomenal string of performances at Austin, Texas' annual South By Southwest (SXSW) extravaganza. The New York Times praised Charli XCX for her "furious, catchy, electronic dance-pop songs about being a woman scorned," while the Washington Post noted that she "sang like a child of Madonna (small voice, XXL attitude) and danced as if she fully intended to leave Austin a superstar." Idolator hailed Charli as "freakishly energetic" and "unique," with SPIN declaring that her "hair-tossing is award-worthy." Perhaps the Los Angeles Times summed it up best: "Charli XCX's synth-pop is groomed for stardom."

Charli XCX has quickly proven an unqualified phenomenon, earning immediate applause for such synthpop smashes as "You're The One" and "I Love It (Feat. Charli XCX)," her internationally successful collaboration with Big Beat recording duo Icona Pop. The hugely anticipated "TRUE ROMANCE" sees the multi-talented 20-year-old artist further honing her dark, euphoric pop vision with the able assistance of such studio superstars as Ariel Reichstadt (Solange, Usher, Major Lazer) and Patrik Berger (Icona Pop, Robyn, Lana Del Rey).

"It's a very emotional record," says Charli XCX. "Every corner of my own romantic history is explored on this record, so for me it's very raw, it's very honest and it's very true. I've written a pop record from the heart, and when people hear it I hope they want to dance and cry at the same time."

In February, Charli XCX heralded "TRUE ROMANCE" with the spectacular new single, "You (Ha Ha Ha)," and its companion video, directed by award-winning filmmaker Ryan Andrews. The electrifying clip -- which is streaming now at her official YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/officialcharlixcx -- has already received over 600,000 individual page views, while the track (along with a range of exclusive remixes by such dancefloor notables as BURNS, Goldroom, Melé, and MS MR.) is available now on the iTunes Store.

Born Charli Aitchison in pastoral Herfordshire, England, Charli XCX first made an immediate splash with a series of increasingly acclaimed singles, including "Nuclear Seasons" and "Stay Away," which Pitchfork hailed as "a slow-burning kiss-off of a pop song with low-lying synths, industrial textures, and a whole lot of shadowy atmosphere."

"You're The One" received ever greater accolades upon its 2012 release, with Billboard praising "its frisky beats, Euro-pop synths, and vaguely Middle Eastern melodies" while also naming Charli to its "21 Under 21: Ones To Watch 2012" ranking. "Charli's got swagger of her own," raved ELLE, while Interview commended her for "morph(ing) into an amalgamation of a bewitching young woman exuding a dark sensuality and a London art-school kid pulsating with electric energy."

Charli made additional waves with a string of sold out US headline shows (as well as dates supporting both Santigold and Coldplay) leading to her appearance in a range of year-end packages, including 2012 wrap-ups and 2013 predictions. Rolling Stone declared her to be one of the year's "Hottest Synthpop Acts," while Stereogum included Charli on their influential "40 Best New Bands of 2012" tally, noting that "her voice floats above slickly catchy electroscapes, showing an admirably tough vulnerability. She actually sounds like a teenager, and that's a good thing." "You're The One" was among Billboard's "20 Best Songs of 2012: Critics' Picks" as well as Idolator's "12 For '12: The EPs That Had Us Popping This Year." As if that weren't enough, Time named Charli's upcoming debut album as one of their "11 Albums To Look Forward To In 2013," writing that "at only 20 years old, the vaguely goth Charli XCX (nee Charlotte Aitchison) has a vocal maturity that outshines many more seasoned singers, crafting songs that are alternately gorgeous, anthemic, throbbing and occasionally weird, with soaring vocals and swelling choruses that sweep you up in their melodies."

Furthermore, Charli XCX has released a pair of creative and compelling mixtapes, including the recent "SUPER ULTRA," highlighted by the viral hit, "Cloud Aura (Feat. Brooke Candy)." Pitchfork decreed the track -- produced by J£ZUS MILLION -- to be "a weird one," in large part thanks to the appearance of "rapper" and tumblr meta-meme Brooke Candy. "SUPER ULTRA" is available now as a free download to fans signing up at Charli's official website, charlixcxmusic.com, while the "Cloud Aura" companion video can be viewed at https://youtu.be/7LJOg-yLWbI.
