New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Since her summer departure from ABC's reality vocal competition "Rising Star," 16-year-old Macy Kate from St. Petersburg, Florida, is breaking down the YouTube barriers and crossing over into the mainstream music scene.
Over the past 3 years she has become what some would call a "YouTube Celebrity" and, without the help of the "big machine," has garnered over 12 million views on her cover video of "Radioactive." Kate has set the bar incredibly high for all aspiring independent artists, and has been featured on Good Morning America, On-Air with Ryan Seacrest, and Billboard Magazine. Her alternative pop/rock sound inspired by Paramore, Imagine Dragons, and Avril Lavigne, has a zest and originality that gives it a unique flare and a genre of its own.
"I am excited to release my original music that defines who I am and the sound I love. I am proud to be part of the wave of alt-poppers charting today, and one of the few solo American-made female's in that lane," says Kate.
On October 17th, Macy's new single "iH8 That," co-written and produced by TE
Music Group, will rock the alternative and virtual airways throughout the county, and will cross over into the UK during her upcoming Teen Hoot Tour which kicks off at the end of October. Her official music video for "iH8 That" was directed by mega YouTube Celebrity Kurt Hugo Schneider and will accompany the audio release on the 17th.
During one of her many on-air performances on ABC's "Rising Star,"
Brad Paisley commented "she's unbelievable."
Ludacris followed up with "It (Macy's voice) overpowered everything and I can't wait to see you next." Over the past few months, Billboard chart topper, Meghan Trainor, has become a great role model and support system for Macy as well.
Keep your eyes peeled and your ears open for Macy Kate who is quickly making a name in the industry.
