American Songwriter Exclusive Premiere Of 'Reaching', As Thought-Provoking New Track By P.J. Pacifico Shines A Light On "Selfies" Culture
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Vipper Records) 'Reaching', a thought-provoking new track by singer-songwriter P.J. Pacifico, shines a light on the 'selfies' culture and suggests that we should be building real-world memories instead of the disposable ones sent from touchscreen-to-touchscreen.

American Songwriter World Premiered the song and its lyric video:

In the American Songwriter column, Pacifico comments:
"I wrote 'Reaching' with my buddy, Shannon McArthur, back in March while I had a day off from tour in Nashville. When I got to the writing session, we were coming up with ideas and I mentioned that the imagination is getting lost due to everyone feeling the need to document their every move with a picture; life through a touch screen. Sometimes it's okay to let stuff remain a memory. I believe most of us are guilty of it in some way, myself included. The only scary thing is that there are a lot of false images being built out there. The term "selfie" is current and sings well, so we went with it. Everyone will always have their own opinion of selfie taking, but isn't it a bit unhealthy? I'm thrilled to have had Bill Lefler (Ingrid Michaelson, Joshua Radin, Cary Brothers) produce this track, and my dear friend, Garrison Starr, sing on it with me. We had a bunch of fun recording this song."

The track will be available July 8th via Viper Records, and, as referenced above, was produced by Bill Lefler (Ingrid Michaelson, Joshua Radin, Cary Brothers) and recorded at Deathstar Studios - Los Angeles, CA. It features background vocals by Garrison Starr and was co-written with Shannon McArthur. YouTube version of the video is here:

Pacifico also happens to be a cancer survivor, and there's an underlying connection between his resulting approach to life, and his desire to build relationships that are as meaningful as possible. Take a look at Pacifico's recent efforts to boost the spirits of other survivors:

Pacifico is a fan and critic's favorite, and is a road warrior who has even earned the admiration of club owners across the U.S. In Nashville, Jaime Scorby of The Bluebird Café said: "We love P.J. here at The Bluebird. He is one of the only people (if not THE only person) we have booked directly into a round based on the strength of his online press kit."

More About P.J. Pacifico:
Over the past few years, pop/rock singer-songwriter P.J. Pacifico has evolved from beloved under-the-radar, CT hometown hero to an internationally-respected indie to be reckoned with, praised in such media outlets as M Music & Musicians Magazine, iTunes Editorial, and scores of other print, web and television placements throughout the U.S. Reviewers have repeatedly compared him to Paul Simon, James Taylor, Matthew Sweet and others, while embracing his live performance chops and upbeat, radio-friendly songwriting. His sound has been described as "a jam session between James Taylor and Matthew Sweet," with some classic rock influences thrown in for good measure. His songs feel immediately familiar and comfortable; straight from the heart and sure to get stuck in your head. His trademark brand of warm, inviting, hook-filled songs, the themes of love and survival, redemption and recovery, have endeared him to a growing number of fans from coast-to-coast. He saw breakthrough success with 'Outlet' and 'Surface', and charted a confident new path with 'Overlooking the Obvious'.
