New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Canadian metalcore/post-hardcore band, Vesuvius, premiered their new video for "Hibernate" off their debut album, "My Place of Solace and Rest". The video is very special to the band as it touches on personal experiences, vocalist Ben Cooligan elaborates, "Hibernate is a lyrical recollection of my personal struggle with bullying, however I wanted its visual counterpart to be more enigmatic and relatable. The characterization of the protagonist is meant to be representative of an ambiguous oppressed or outlier-centric demographic. The general thesis behind the story-line revolves around the martyrization of society's youth, and that unless we are unanimous in growth and acceptance of differences, we as a unit stand powerless."

Cooligan further goes on about how Vesuvius isn't afraid to push boundaries with their art, "For example, the word 'faggot' is strategically utilized to exemplify the power of language that we must work towards eliminating from our vocabulary. So to speak, it is testament of how far we've come, yet a reminder of how much further we have to go. This video is dedicated first and foremost to anybody who is oppressed by homo or transphobia on a daily basis, however I am hopeful that something can be taken from it despite orientation or background."

Vesuvius just wrapped up the "My Place of Solace and Rest Tour pt I" and will head out on their first run of U.S. dates on pt II of the tour which kicks off on 6/20 and features support from Curses and Change Is. Physical copies of "My Place of Solace and Rest" are available at merchbucket and at all major digital distributors.
