Yola Joins The Highwomen On Self-Titled Track From Upcoming Album
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Country-soul singer Yola has joined The Highwomen - Amanda Shires, Brandi Carlile, Natalie Hemby, and Maren Morris - on the just-released self-titled track to the group's also eponymous upcoming album, as does Sheryl Crow. Shires and Carlile wrote the song with Jimmy Webb, who had penned the 1985 tune "Highwayman" for the supergroup by that name featuring Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Waylon Jennings, and Johnny Cash. You can hear it here:

When The Highwomen made their live concert debut at Newport Folk Festival, Yola joined them there as well. Billboard says the group "set a sky-high standard with a performance that was the sum of its extraordinary parts." Rolling Stone called it "a triumph" and dubbed Yola "the single most sought-after voice at this year's festival" for multiple performances including the Highwomen set, a surprise Dolly Parton performance, and Yola's own "triumphant" set.

Produced by Grammy Award-winning producer Dave Cobb (who produced Lake Street Dive's 2016 Nonesuch debut album, Side Pony), The Highwomen will be released September 6 on Low Country Sound/Elektra Records.

To pick up a copy of Yola's Dan Auerbach-produced debut album, Walk Through Fire, head to your local record store, iTunes, Amazon, the Easy Eye Sound Store, or the Top40-Charts Store, where CD and vinyl orders include a download of the complete album at checkout. You can also hear the album now on Spotify and Apple Music.
Yola performs at Lightning 100's annual Live On The Green in Nashville tonight and at the Philadelphia Folk Festival this weekend.
