LOS ANGELES, CA. (Top40 Charts/ Bird York Official Website) - Oscar-nominated songwriter, recording artist "Bird" York continues her tradition of having an original song prominently featured in a major motion picture with "Have No Fear," which plays throughout the dialogue-free final minutes of Seven Pounds. Opening December 19, the Christmas 2008 Sony Pictures Entertainment release re-teams star Will Smith with The Pursuit Of Happyness director Gabriele Muccino. Smith plays an IRS agent in search of personal redemption who reaches out to seven strangers in need.

Oprah Winfrey calls Seven Pounds' ending sequence, over which Bird York's voice and song "Have No Fear" are heard, "the five minutes that will change your life." Ethereal and atmospheric, the song showcases York's gift for conveying emotional depth and grace, as well as the extraordinary resonance of her music when matched to image.

"Seven Pounds is an intensely human story," said York, "and I'm honored to have been asked to lend my voice and music for such a riveting reveal in the film."

The last major film to spotlight a York composition - also as the accompaniment to the narrative's wrenching resolution - was Crash, 2006's Best Picture Oscar-winner. "In The Deep" was nominated for "Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Song" at the 78th annual Academy Awards, during which York performed it live.

Her songs have also been featured prominently during equally emotional sequences on House, Nip Tuck, CSI, Stand Off, Everwood and an entire season of Family Law, among other film and television projects. KCRW's Nic Harcourt calls Bird "a songwriter with extraordinary depth with a voice to match."

In tandem with her music career, York has worked extensively in front of the camera. Acting highlights include her recurring role on The West Wing, the lead role as a young Naomi Judd in the NBC miniseries about her life, as well as starring roles in films opposite Diane Keaton, Tom Waits, Dennis Hopper, Patrick Demsey and cameos in "Crash", "Desperate Housewives" and "Curb Your Enthusiasm". She will soon be seen on "CSI" with Laurence Fishburne as well as the indie film "Ball Don't Lie".

Currently, York is releasing a three-song digital-only EP that will be available on iTunes on December 19th. She is also completing her next full-length album, Go With It, which features ten new original songs and is slated for release in early 2009.
