NEW YORK (Univison Music Group) - According to Nielsen SoundScan Report, Leading Latin Music Label Reached An Impressive 55% of All Latin Sales in U.S. and Puerto Rico

Univision Music Group, the country's leading Latin music label set a new record in Latin music history with an enviable 55% share of Latin albums sold in the U.S. according to Nielsen SoundScan's latest Report for the week ending August 8, 2004. This includes 48 of the top 100 albums.

International Regional Mexican sensation Bronco-El Gigante de America debuted at No 1 with "Sin Riendas," their new studio album. Los Temerario's "Veintisiete" follows at No 2 and Marco Antonio Solis and Joan Sebastian's "Dos Grandes" is in the No 3 position.

The remainder three positions in the Top Ten are as follows: Disa's "Duranguense" compilation at No 5, from Chicago up-and-coming "Duranguense" sensation Alacranes Musical with "A Cambio de Que" at No 9, and Latin Hip Hop leaders Akwid at No 10 with their critically-acclaimed follow up album "KOMP 104.9 Radio Compa."

According to SoundScan, Fonovisa Records and Disa Records both continued to dominate the charts with 19 albums total each, while Univision Records had 10 albums, bringing the company's sum to 48 albums on the top 100 selling Latin albums chart.

This extraordinary feat continues to solidify Univision Music Group as the irrefutable leader in the Latin music industry.
