New York, NY (Top40 Charts) The ZAPPA FAMILY TRUST has announced the December 17 release of two more remastered Frank Zappa classics on 180-gram vinyl: 1969's double LP Uncle Meat and 1974's live double LP Roxy & Elsewhere. Both albums will be released by Zappa Records/Barking Pumpkin Records and distributed by Universal
Music Enterprises.
Uncle Meat was Frank Zappa and the Mothers Of Invention's fifth studio album. Released in 1969, the acclaimed experimental double LP peaked at No. 43 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart. Roxy & Elsewhere , Frank Zappa and the Mothers' 1974 double live album, culled from the performances of three December 1973 nights at the Roxy in Los Angeles, as well as from May 1974 concerts at Edinboro
State College in Pennsylvania and Chicago's Auditorium Theatre, Produced by FZ, and recorded live with studio overdubs.
With the rights to all of groundbreaking composer Frank Zappa 's music back home with the ZAPPA FAMILY TRUST, fans can look forward to more freshly remastered music being released on vinyl. Joe Travers, Vaultmeister for the Zappa archives, worked with Chris Bellman of Bernie Grundman Mastering on these vinyl projects.
This month's releases follow Zappa Records/Barking Pumpkin Records ' April 2013 remastered 180-gram LP release of Frank Zappa 's Finer Moments , which was constructed by FZ for vinyl in 1972 but not released until 2012. Remastered LP editions of Frank Zappa 's 1966 debut album Freak Out! and Over-Nite
Sensation were released on 180-gram vinyl in June.
Last year, when the rights to the iconic composer's music returned to Zappa Records and the ZAPPA FAMILY TRUST - headed by Frank Zappa 's widow, Gail Zappa - the family made all of his music available on iTunes for the first time. The new releases honor the legacy of the legendary composer, guitarist, bandleader, filmmaker and philosophical wit. Frank Zappa was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995 and he received the GRAMMY® Lifetime Achievement Award in 1997.
