New York, NY (Top40 Charts) SKILLY: How were you able to start your journey in the entertainment business? Where did this all start?
Eye'z: This all started when I was born of course. I've always loved music. When I moved into my aunts house when my parents were getting a divorce as a toddler, I got to submerge myself 100 percent into music. Being as she was an opera singer and music teacher with a grand piano and musical instruments all over the house, I got to practice after my music lessons with her, which helped me in the long run with my sight reading; she still helps me til this day.
What are some of the creative ways you use to promote your music?
Staying busy is the best way I try to promote my music. When you're an artist, people only pay attention to ridiculous outlandish stunts to "take you seriously." I do not entertain unrealistic expectations, so I do what I have to do, like distributing flyers and even television. As an artist though, I've always looked for the next project. If someone didn't support me from the last project, they have an option to come out to the next show or event.
What is the greatest challenge you face in today's entertainment business? How do you overcome them?
The biggest challenge is not having enough opportunities to do good work.
How is the music scene like in your hometown? What do you like about it and what don't you like?
The music scene in my home town is so boring! I mean, not if your a metal artist though! There are always different types of styles of artistry in the bay area. Whats good about that is it creates a standard for EVERY artist coming up next.
Where do you think the future of music is going to be? How do you feel artists can be more a part of it?
I think the future of music depends on the fans, if you're a fan of music and you enjoy what you think is good music, then support it by buying it or coming out to the music events of your favorite artists. As an artist, I particularly just keep it moving. I learned that sometimes you have to move to the next thing. Sometimes things don't turn out the way you want them to, and sometimes what you thought wasn't great was your best work, so you never know, so keep it moving.
What advice can you give to other upcoming artists and musicians trying to achieve success?
Find new ways to be heard, and when someone brings you an opportunity, be grateful for it.
What inspires you to write your next song?
My attitude; sometimes I just have to get it out.
What do you think makes a great song?
A song that speaks to you makes a great song. As a composer, you know you hit the right keys when a melody with out words can make someone become enthralled.
