Megan Mccormick Transcends Unpredictable Emotional Landscape On Exceptional Debut 'honest Words'

New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) - Many 23-year-olds have a wealth of both uplifting and disheartening experiences that seem to belie their age, but few are able to transcend their unpredictable emotional landscape and coalesce these experiences into twelve tracks of raw, heavy, beautiful rock & roll. Nashville-based Megan McCormick has done exactly that on her debut album, 'Honest Words', out August 17 on Ryko. Love, desire, addiction and relationships figure prominently in the album, and the prodigious songwriting talent and instrumental mastery of this gifted singer, songwriter and guitarist shine on the record.

'Addiction' blasts out of the gate with a muscular guitar riff before opening up to a rumbling, anthemic chorus where McCormick declares 'I'm coming back.' 'Do Right' is jangly pop with an uber-catchy chorus, where McCormick confesses 'I can't remember what I came to forget, so I must be doing something right.' 'Wreck' is a tender rumination on coming to grips with and embracing one's faults and limitations, with mournful pedal steel adding graceful texture. 'Shiver' is a lusty track with a huge chorus, with McCormick detailing a night with a lover.

McCormick's guitar skill is evident throughout the album, whether on the raging outro solo at the end of 'Drifting' or the elegant chords and phrasing on 'Lonely Tonight.' She also plays lap-steel, mandolin and bass. 'Honest Words' was produced by GRAMMY Award-winner Dave O'Donnell (John Mayer, Joss Stone, James Taylor).

Born in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, McCormick was raised in Wasilla, Alaska in a family in which musicianship runs deep. She entered college at the tender age of 16 after receiving the coveted Public Performance Scholarship at East Tennessee State University. Her song 'Bullseye' landed in the Emmy-Award nominated film 'Prayers for Bobby,' featuring Sigourney Weaver.
