Mica Paris To Pay Tribute To Ella Fitzgerald At BBC Proms In The Park
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Mica Paris will perform renditions of Ella Fitzgerald classics at BBC Proms in the Park on Saturday, September 9 at Singleton Park in Swansea. The BBC National Orchestra and Chorus of Wales will also be performing an array of well-known film and TV favourites alongside traditional Welsh songs. The news comes as the full line-up for the evening is announced, and tickets go on sale.

English language version:
Mica Paris said: "I can't wait to be playing at BBC Proms in the Park in September - it's going to be a fab day and I would love to see you all there!"

Welsh soprano and West-end star and recent Olivier Award winner Rebecca Trehearn, will also take to the stage, as well as BBC Young Musician 2016 finalist, saxophonist Jess Gillam.

Rhodri Talfan Davies, Director of BBC Wales says: "I'm really looking forward to welcoming Mica Paris and the other amazing musical talent to Swansea for this year's Proms in the Park. The variety of this year's line-up will mean yet another wonderful evening of music and song and I know the warmth and enthusiasm of the audience at Swansea will make it a truly memorable event."

Robert Francis-Davies, Swansea Council Cabinet Member for Culture, Tourism and Major Projects, says: "We're delighted to be hosting Proms in the Park again because it's always a brilliant event with a fantastic atmosphere. A special appearance by Mica Paris will ensure we'll have a great crowd coming from all over Wales to join in."

Music-lovers are invited to come with picnics and flags to celebrate at this open-air concert. Proms in the Park is part of the annual spectacular culmination of two months of music-making at the BBC Proms, as the world-famous Last Night celebrations spill out from London's Royal Albert Hall and thousands of people come together at venues across the UK to be part of the magic of the Last Night.

Tickets are now on sale for the event supported by Swansea Council which will take place on Saturday, 9 September. Advance ticket prices are £12.50 for adults during the month of July, increasing to £16 on 1 August until the day before the event, and £18 on the day. Accompanied children 12 and under are free.

BBC Proms:
As the world's biggest classical music festival, the BBC Proms offers eight weeks of world-class music-making from a vast array of leading orchestras, conductors and soloists from the UK and around the world. Across more than 90 concerts - and a similar number of free events designed to extend and further enrich the audience's Proms experience - the festival aims to offer a summer of music that allows for the most diverse and exciting musical journeys.

More than 120 years since it was founded, the driving factor in building a festival of this scale is to offer exceptional music-making at the lowest possible prices, continuing founder-conductor Henry Wood's original ambition of bringing the best classical music to the widest possible audience. With every Prom broadcast live on BBC Radio 3 and many televised on the BBC, the Proms reaches far and beyond the Royal Albert Hall.
The 2017 BBC Proms runs from Friday 14 July - Saturday 9 September.
