New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Ready for sun, surf and sand and the soundtrack that goes along with hot summer nights? While the season may not have arrived just yet we've got you covered on the music side: "1-2-3-4-5", a collaboration between electronic music artists Salme Dahlstrom and Mikey P is your quintessential summer banger with a hot beat, an ice cream melting "can't get it out your head after one listen" chorus, a beach party atmosphere and lyrics about girls in bikinis (duh).
The song continues the Dahlstrom tradition of endlessly poppy and strikingly approachable music, this time with a light Latin twist:
-"I wanted to create an upbeat, summer track that incorporated old Latin swing horns and a bit of a hip-hop feel, something that would get the party started on Bradley Beach or a rooftop in L.A.", Dahlstrom says. "I spent weeks in the studio tweaking a hoard of samples, filtering and re-sampling to get just the right sound and create those horn lines. When I had the horn hook and the beat the chorus came quickly. I instantly thought of Mikey for the verses", Dahlstrom continues.
"He's got this infectious fun vibe which is perfect for 1-2-3-4-5"; his rapping style fits the formula of the hooky, tongue-in-cheek attitude that is synonymous with my sound. Mikey P. whose day job is rapping with South Jersey outfit Dacav as well as acting on various reality TV shows such as Dating Naked, and American Ninja Warrior was quick to jump on the opportunity to work with Salme:
-"This song is fun! When Salme sent me the beat, it just felt like summer time. It felt like I was on a beach drinking with friends. That's what I wanted to capture with my lyrics!" Mikey says.
"1-2-3-4-5" is the first single off of Dahlstrom's forthcoming album "Elevation Junkie" out June 10. "This time I made a commitment to have fun, stir some s**t up like start a fire and then walk right through it", Dahlstrom says slyly. "If you don't have fun then what do you have, so let's put your helmets on and get ready for some fun"!
