Sons Of Hippies Join East Coast Leg Of Soul Coughing Front Man Mike Doughty's National Tour, Release New Video
Los Angeles, CA (Top40 Charts/ Glass Onyon PR) One of the most talked about bands in modern psych-space rock, Sons Of Hippies, will take the stage as the opening act for Soul Coughing's Mike Doughty on the mid-October stretch of his national tour. Doughty encountered the Hippies through his booking agent, who happened to catch the group's video for "Rose" on YouTube. Impressed with the video and the buzz surrounding the band, whose 2013 release Griffons At The Gates Of Heaven was greeted with much critical acclaim, it was decided that the Hippies would make a fine opening act for Doughty. Dates are as follows:

Oct 16 Teaneck, NJ Mexicali Live
Oct 17 Philadelphia, PA Union Transfer
Oct 18 South Burlington, VT Higher Ground
Oct 19 Boston, MA Paradise Rock Club
Oct 20 Portland, ME Port City Music Hall
Oct 22 Cleveland, OH Beachland Ballroom
Oct 23 Detroit, MI Saint Andrew's Hall
Oct 24 Chicago, IL Park West
Oct 25 Minneapolis, MN First Avenue
Oct 26 St. Louis, MO Off Broadway
Oct 27 Milwaukee, WI Turner Hall

Fans of the band and viewers of the Hippies' previous videos ("Rose," "Spaceship Ride") are well acquainted with the band's penchant for intensely creative, humorous and eye-catching videos. That streak continues with the release of their newest video for the slow burner "Mirrorball," the opening shot of which includes a pair of bikini clad, hula hooping hotties in Nixon and Reagan masks...and then things get weird. Featuring vocalist/guitarist Katherine Kelly dressed as a black hooded terrorist, shaving the head of her young male captive, as well as shots of the entire band indulging in copious amounts of cocaine like the drug fueled mania of the '70s & '80s never went away, the "Mirrorball" video shocks the senses and subverts expectations in a way that will have you both laughing and gaping in slack jawed wonder.

See for yourself!

Conceived by the spiritual union of Katherine Kelly and drummer Jonas Canales amidst the good vibes of the Bonnaroo Music Festival, Sons Of Hippies began their journey in 2008, adding bassist David Daly to the fold in 2011. Together the trio conquered the Florida music scene, earning accolades from audiences and critics alike including honors from their local alternative weekly Creative Loafing. Their 2013 release Griffons At The Gates Of Heaven launched the band to new heights, bringing them heaps of international praise such as the British zine Vive Le Rock declaring "Psychedelia just got motherfucking sexy," and Classic Rock Radio Dot EU proclaiming "Griffons starts off well and then keeps getting better...it begs to be experienced time and time again" while Penny Black Music says "This is a powerful, well crafted and produced slab of modern alt rock."
