LOS ANGELES (Xingolati/ www.xingolati.com) - It was announced today that Banyan, lead by Stephen Perkins will join Xingolati (pronounced Zing-go-lah-ti) - the Groove Cruise of the Pacific this October. The three night cruise from Los Angeles to Ensenada will depart on October 14, 2005 and feature dynamic bands and performance art aboard Carnival Cruise Lines' ship Paradise. In addition to Banyan, Xingolati includes The Flaming Lips, G Love and Special Sauce and Medeski Martin & Wood among others.

"Stephen Perkins is the kind of artist that can come onboard and blow this event out of the water," said Neal Turley, co-founder of Who is Guy Grand, the company producing Xingolati. "His style is so explosive and raw. Banyan brings a sound that is hard and experimental but sophisticated and complex."

Perkins, from the legendary groups Janes Addiction and Porno for Pyros, is the leader of Banyan, an alternative-rock supergroup featuring Tony Franklin (The Firm, Jimmy Page), Brian Jordan (Karl Denson's Tiny Universe), Willie Waldman (Snoop Dog, Tupac), and Norton Wisdom, a renowned artist that paints live with the band. Banyan has an anything-goes aesthetic that touches on elements of jazz, funk, rock, world music. For Perkins, playing in the moment is one of the things that led him to form Banyan.

"I am also excited about our music being inspired by the environment, we improvise the WHOLE show, being stimulated by our surroundings. So, there will be great unpredictable music flowing, as deep as the ocean and as fresh as the sea mist," said Perkins.

Xingolati offers music lovers a unique opportunity to experience amazing bands in an intimate setting. With only 2000 spaces onboard the cruise promises to be a music festival like no other.
