Alternative-Pop Artist Drew Cayla Releases Break Away EP
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) "Drew Cayla's music reflects a remarkable soulfulness, depth and sophistication which is suggestive of a much older talent and point of view," says Dawson of his young protégé.

Rising young New Jersey- and Connecticut-based alternative-pop artist Drew Cayla has just released her new EP, entitled "Break Away," featuring five new original songs. Simultaneously with the release, the 16-year-old singer songwriter is debuting on YouTube her new single and first official music video "Someone Tonight." The video was directed and filmed in New Haven, Connecticut, by Jake Bugella of Minneapolis. Break Away is the much-anticipated follow-up to Drew Cayla's 2014 debut LP Home, which featured eight original songs.

Drew's surprising career began at the age of 11 in Connecticut, when she started writing songs to reflect her moods and interpretation of the world around her. Drew Dawson, former lead guitarist of the Cleveland-based indie rock band View From Everest, discovered Drew at age 14. Dawson worked with Drew Cayla and convinced her to record her first album, which he produced at Gold Coast Recorders in Bridgeport, CT, with help from a number of local musicians.

"Drew Cayla's music reflects a remarkable soulfulness, depth and sophistication which is suggestive of a much older talent and point of view," says Dawson of his young protégé, "and her fans will be excited to hear the new, more contemporary direction her music has taken."

Drew Cayla has performed live in Connecticut and New Jersey and will continue performing in the Tristate area this summer, while on break from being a full-time sophomore student in a New Jersey high school. Last summer, Drew hit the road for several weeks when she was selected to perform on the 2015 Camplified Tour, traveling and performing with other emerging artists in summer camps from Maine to Michigan. Later in 2015, Drew Cayla released a refreshingly original single and lyric video "King," which was inspired by the life of Motown's Berry Gordy.

Songs on the Break Away EP and Drew Cayla's earlier albums are available on iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon MP3, and other streaming platforms. Her videos and her earlier audio releases are on her YouTube channel, and fans can follow Drew Cayla on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter or via her website Drewcayla.com. All songs are published by No Stairway, LLC.
