Aussie Bloke Daniel McConnell on Channel 7's Sunrise

Daniel McConnell�s 15 minutes of fame is showing no signs of stopping anytime soon. The Aussie larrikin made headlines around the world yesterday after a memorable appearance on Today [14 million views online so far] when he described how he helped police catch an unlicensed driver who fled the scene after smashing his car into a fish and chip shop. This morning Mr McConnell appeared on Sunrise for the second day in a row and had Samantha Armytage and David �Kochie� Koch in stitches as he discussed his new found fame. �It�s ridiculous, it�s absolutely ridiculous,� he said. �All I was trying to do was a good thing ... and look what it�s turned out to be. I�m glad I�ve turned my phone off at the moment because it won�t stop ringing.� The hosts heaped praise on the man who has been labelled the �Hero of Hendra�. �Dan, you do have the gift of the gab,� Armytage said, �You�re very plain speaking, we love it.� �Yeah well there�s no need to beat around the bush mate,� Mr McConnell said, �you get to the point, tell it how it is and that�s all I done.� Mr McConnell is a father of four and he told the Sunrise hosts that his partner wasn�t too impressed that he announced in another interview that they�re currently expecting their fifth child. �Everyone found out yesterday,� he said about the pregnancy, �me partner didn�t even tell everyone.� �She�s like, �I haven�t told anyone and now you�ve told the world!�� As for his other kids, they think he�s a hero. �I picked the kids up from the school yesterday arvo ... and there�s only like 60 kids in the whole school. Everyone�s like, �Oh can I have your autograph?� And I�m just like, �Yeah, righto mate�. �Did you sign them?� Armytage asked. �Nah. I�ll give you a selfie, that�s better than an autograph mate. An autograph can get wet.� Sunrise flew Mr McConnell from Queensland to Sydney yesterday afternoon so he could appear live in the studio. In an interview on KIIS FM yesterday, Mr McConnell told Dave Hughes that he wasn�t being paid for his appearance on the Channel Seven show. But he sounded pretty excited on Sunrise about the fact they were putting him up in a nice hotel. �I even brought a six pack down from Brisbane so I could have a beer in the Mercure resort last night,� he said. �Is it safe to say that you�re enjoying your 15 minutes?� Armytage asked him. �It�s more than 15 minutes!� he said to the delight of the hosts. One thing�s for certain, we haven�t seen the last of Daniel McConnell.
