Best waterfall in Laos. Kuang Si Waterfall is a must do. It is one of the top attractions in Laos and for good reason. The waterfalls are beautiful and the pools are fun to swim in. Normally, the water is a seemingly unnatural blue, but since my brother Joe and I went during the rainy season, the water was brown, but the falls were almost overflowing with rainwater. Breathtaking.
First, we walked through the Asian Black Bear Rescue Center. It is a place where they save bears from being poached or abused. It is included in the entrance fee to the park ($2.50) but runs strictly on donations.
Then we saw the actual waterfalls. We climbed to the top of the falls on a muddy trail and overlooked. We went into the restricted area where an old path lies. It took us to the 2nd tier of the waterfall. We then swam in the pools that form a little ways downriver and jumped in from an old tree trunk. We also climbed behind the smaller falls. It was an epic adventure that I hope I get to do again when the water is blue. I recommend it to everyone. It is a little bit of a dangerous area in general, especially when it's raining, so practice caution.
