06 Promise of a New Day
Paula Abdul performing Promise of A New Day live in Biloxi, MS on October 20, 2018. This recording includes the new infamous fall. She wan't injured. She was extremely professional. She got right back up and finished the rest of the show. What happened was she was trying to reach out to her fans, but she couldn’t see that well where the stage ended because of the poor lighting. ALSO and more importantly, before the show during the meet and greet there was no barricade separating where the fans stood and the stage. We were literally standing right in front of her while she sat on the edge of the stage, and she was giving us hugs and kisses on the cheek, so I guess she didn’t realize between the meet & greet and the start of the show, staff at the venue moved the fans back about 2 feet from the stage.
I just wanted to take a moment to address all the hateful and cruel comments that I've been seeing online by people who were both there and not there, saying she was on pills. Many performers have fallen on and off stage but none have been accused of being on drugs. Paula Abdul is a survivor of a plane crash. Because of that crash she had to have multiple back/neck surgeries, so yes there was a period of time that she was medicated to get through the pain. However, she is not a drug addict, and I don't believe she has to take medication for it anymore. Pain pills aren't something to make fun of. Especially when our country is suffering from an opioid crisis currently. Get yourself educated and don't say hurtful things about one of the kindest and down-to-earth celebrities on earth.
