Harry Belafonte Mary's Boy Child

Jester Hariston was asked to write a song for a birthday party attended mostly by West Indians. He did using a calypso beat. A little later, Walter Schumann ask him to write a Christmas song for his choir. Remembering the music to the birthday song, He changed the lyrics and a new Christmas classic was born. Harry's version is the best known.
