We welcome reviews (around 800 words), essays (min. 1,200 words), interviews (min. 1,200 words) and short blog entries (under 800 words)
on a wide range of topics in music, entertainment, popular culture, past and present.
Submit only your "final" version of the article -- no drafts. An editor may contact you regarding revisions. By submitting your essay to
Top40-Charts, you agree to work with an editor in the event revisions are needed.
Feature essays are a minimum of 1,200 words. There is no maximum limit, so long as the essay warrants the length. You may also pitch a single
article or a series of articles here. We'd love to hear your ideas.
Be sure to provide proper attribution to cited sources (magazine-style attribution in parenthesis following the citation -- no footnotes, please).
Accepted essays will convey a strong historical understanding of the subject matter, draw from real examples (e.g., how you feel about a film is
not of interest -- what you know about it and its predecessors and contemporaries, however, is critical) and be written in an erudite yet entertaining
magazine-style manner for our savvy readership.
For examples of the diversity of topics and range of approaches we welcome, please look at News and Features archives.
Please include with your article a summary, your bio, and links to your published work. Also include a short bio (2-3 lines) to
be included in your article, should it be accepted for publication on Top40-Charts.
If your work is chosen for publication, you grant to Top40-Charts the right to publish your work on the Top40-Charts.com web site.
Top40-Charts retains the rights to: archive the work in perpetuity; reproduce and distribute the contribution as part of the collected
work and any revision of that collective work, and; any later collective work in the same series. You also grant
Top40-Charts non-exclusive syndication rights as standard in syndication practice.
In the event that revenue is collected by Top40-Charts from a reprint sale or syndication sale, you will receive 50% of the net revenue
or 50% of the net revenue of your share of the content package in instances where more than one article is syndicated as part of a package.
You also allow Top40-Charts to present your work as part of the collected work of Top40-Charts on media newswires. This agreement is accepted
by your submission of your article.
