Biography
John Newman (born 16 June 1990) is a British soul singer and musician. He is best known for the track "Love Me Again" which charted number one on the UK Singles Chart in July 2013 as well as being a featured artist for Rudimental's number one single "Feel the Love" and top 20 single "Not Giving In".
Born in Keighley, West Yorkshire, Newman grew up in Settle in the Yorkshire Dales. He started playing guitar and writing his own songs at the age of 14 and soon learned how to record and produce himself, even making his own house tracks and DJing.
At 20 he moved to London, started a band, played live and got signed to Island Records. He released "Cheating" as a download song and plays an acoustic version of the track at gigs.
In May 2012 John Newman featured on Rudimental's single "Feel the Love". The single topped the UK Singles Chart in early-June 2012. In November 2012 he featured on Rudimental's follow-up single, "Not Giving In", which peaked to number fourteen on the UK Singles Chart.
In June 2013 John Newman released his debut single "Love Me Again" as the lead single from his debut studio album. The Yorkshire’s 22 year old rising star with the voice of a soul great, John Newman, celebrates as his debut solo single Love Me Again reaches No 1.
Love Me Again has sold more than 125,000 copies this week to reach the Official Singles Chart summit, making it the 12th consecutive week the Number 1 has sold more than 100K.
