Biography
Jason Heerah is a 31 year-old X-Factor contestant from Victoria, Australia. He is a musician, record producer and father of two. Heerah's father taught him how to play the drums and he used to gig with his father's band when he was younger. He cites Bob Marley, John Legend and Stevie Wonder as his musical influences.
Heerah sang "Happy" by Pharrell Williams at his audition and progressed to the super bootcamp round of the competition. For the first challenge of bootcamp, Heerah was placed into a group with two other contestants from his category to perform a song together for the judges. Heerah made it to the second bootcamp challenge, where he performed a soulful version of "I Love It" by Icona Pop to the judges and a live audience of one thousand. He then progressed to the home visits round in Las Vegas and performed "Bennie and the Jets" by Elton John in front of his mentor Redfoo and guest mentor Nicole Scherzinger. Redfoo later selected Heerah for the live shows. Heerah was in the bottom two in week five with Sydnee Carter, but was saved after Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Dannii Minogue and Redfoo chose to eliminate Carter. Heerah was in the bottom three in week seven with Tee and Caitlyn Shadbolt, but after the judges' votes tied with Tee and Shadbolt, Heerah was automatically saved and the vote went to deadlock between the other two, which resulted in Tee's elimination. Heerah was in the bottom two again in week eight, this time with Reigan Derry, another act in the Over 25s, but was eliminated after the judges' vote went to deadlock.
