Biography

European teen heart-throb Ian Thomas was destined to be in entertainment since birth. His mother Brigitte Derks is a well known Dutch choreographer (currently working as a co-director for musicals in Europe,) his stepfather Chris Van Tongelen is a singer and actor and his father Frank Hoelen is also a noted Belgian actor.
At a very early age, Ian went on tour with his mom, observing her work in Paris, London and Amsterdam and visiting movie sets with his step-dad Chris. As a typical ten year old boy, Ian loved soccer and dreamed of being a professional soccer player but by age thirteen his life took a different path.

In 2010, Thomas was brought into Universal Records in Belgium to audition for a new “boy band” that the label was putting together. But instead of joining the group, the label offered him a contract as a solo artist. He quickly accepted and the label soon released Ian’s first single, a Dutch version of Justin Bieber’s song “Baby.” Within days, the music video for Ian’s version of “Baby” went viral and everyone was asking who this talented singer was... it was the first and only time that Ian covered another artist’s song. The success of the single became a trending story, the song peaked at # 1 on March 26, 2011 and the rest is history.
After introducing his fans to three other singles, Universal released Ian’s first solo album “More Than A Game,” an album title that said it all. Music became Ian Thomas’ life as the album reached gold sales status in Belgium. Soon after, Ian became a spokesman for The Big March, an international campaign against cyber bullying. As an artist who believes in supporting and helping spread the word about important causes, he recorded the song “Turn The Tide” against teenage suicide.
A year later he became a household name, winning the silver medal on the Belgian version of the prime time television show ''Celebrity Splash''.
In November 2013, the Australian producer Anise K reached out to Ian Thomas to ask him to be part of ''Walking On Air,'' a song that also featured superstar rapper Snoop Dogg. “Walking on Air” became a massive hit in Greece, Turkey, Belgium and Russia, acquiring over a million downloads in Asia alone and jumpstarting Ian Thomas’ international career. His follow-up singles ''Rain,'' ''Another Round'' and Love X 4” went straight to #1 on iTunes (internationally) and “Run Away & Slow Down” peaked at #2. These singles were all featured on Ian Thomas ''Game Time'' album.
In September of 2014, Ian moved to Los Angeles, CA to fully concentrate on his music and acting career. He released his first ever U.S. single “Cheers” featuring Tyga on March 23, 2015.
