Dublin (Top40 Charts/ StubHub UK) James Walsh has sealed his solo status with the arrival of his debut album, TURNING POINT, after almost a decade fronting multi-million-selling band Starsailor. The singer-songwriter played an exclusive gig on Wednesday 21st May to celebrate his brand new solo project, arranged by
National radio station Absolute
Radio with StubHub UK - the world's largest ticket marketplace.
Since Starsailor's hiatus the artist has been securing his credibility as a solo performer, even branching out into cinema with an on-screen appearance and soundtrack contribution in 2010's Powder. James' songwriting prowess has flourished in collaborations with the likes
Eliza Doolittle,
Melanie C and more recently
Suzanne Vega on album track Firing Line. Walsh showcased tracks from his new album, as well as select hits from Starsailor's back-catalogue as he treated 40 fans to an intimate, stripped-down performance in a secret location, followed by a Q&A with Absolute DJ
Sarah Champion asking questions provided by StubHub fans.
The gig was made possible by a unique collaboration between StubHub and Absolute
Radio in a campaign which brings together a series of memorable, once-in-a-lifetime, intimate music experiences, exclusive only to radio listeners. Live music from Absolute Radio's core artists will continue to feature in an initiative which is set to create #gigenvy amongst passionate music lovers and increase awareness of ways in which to obtain tickets for must-see events.
Richard Griffiths, Interim European Head of Communications at StubHub, commented:
"We're delighted to be partnering with
James Walsh and Absolute
Radio to host his VIP live and intimate London gig. At StubHub, the fan experience is what matters to us and partnering with Absolute
Radio has allowed us to put on the ultimate gig for James' fans.
"It's all about giving fans great seats, available right up until the start of a gig, and making the experience unforgettable for them - we want people to get the gig tickets they want, not gig envy!"
