Filipino Songstress, Lourdes Duque Baron Releases Nina Simone Classic, "Feeling Good"
Hollywood, CA (Top40 Charts/ Bella Luce Productions) Lourdes Duque Baron, under the production of multi-platinum music producer, Andrew Lane, has just released her arrangement of "Feeling Good" on MTV. (Visit Lourdes Duque Baron's MTV page here) Baron's version proves to be a sultry jazz number that would be perfectly at home in a sharp Vegas lounge in the 50s.

"Feeling Good," an original by singer Cy Grant but made famous by Nina Simone's arrangement in 1965, contains symbolic lyrics of nature compared to reality of freedom during a time where black and female artists were shackled by prejudice but their sound would never be compromised. In an era where women are free but battling equality, Baron dedicates her arrangement and sound to Simone with the message that women can rise above anything.

Baron drew upon these inspirational stanzas in her tribute to the late Simone. Baron's smoky arrangement parallels her struggles during a dark period when she was estranged from her husband and chronicled in her book, "I Called Myself Cassandra" - detailing the wrong turns and heartaches that have allowed her to recognize the gifts in her life and the message of a new sunrise. The title song from her debut album echoes these same experiences. "I wanted to make the songs of this album, including 'Feeling Good,' like they're chapters in a book, to try to really capture what I'm thinking about in that season of life," she explains. "This record, to me, is probably one of the most interesting subject-wise. It's a bit retrospective and honors musicians and classics of the past."

Baron's debut album entitled "Andrew Lane presents Feeling Good At Any Age" will be officially released in its entirety in July 2014. With the official release of the Filipino-singer's album, others will discover what Lane calls "an amalgam of sound that is genuinely fresh to the ears."

Baron's singular ability to blend tradition with contemporary color comes to the fore on this set of beguiling cover songs, which simultaneously capture the vintage, sepia-toned feel of her experiences with smoky and sultry sophistication of jazz.

Baron's smooth voice evokes a sense of nostalgia in "Feeling Good." Her voice is reminiscent of 40s or 50s jazz and blues singers performing in smoky venues into a vintage microphone. "Feeling Good" will also be available on iTunes and Vevo in June 2014.
