New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Missing Piece Group) Nashville-based blues-rocker Patrick Sweany is once again gearing up to hit the road for a summer tour, including appearances at the Montreal Jazz Festival and the Telluride Blues and Brews Festival.
Today, Paste Magazine premiered the video for "Every Night Every Day" from his critically acclaimed album Close To The Floor. "'Every Night Every Day' is, for lack of a better word, the darkest thing I've released," said Sweany. "I really wanted to push the vocal and unison guitar to the raunchiest point I physically could, to vent the frustration reflected in the lyrics. I feel like the moody, noir-ish look of the video captures that."
Sweany recently appeared on the syndicated radio program
Music City
Roots with his full band who will hit the road with him this summer. Watch the band's stunning performance of the album's opening track "Working For You" HERE.
Writing in the Nashville Scene, Edd Hurt said "Sweany is a modern bluesman with a songwriting knack - a rare combination... [his] sincerity is beautiful, and he shouldn't change a thing."
Close To The Floor is as personal a statement as the roots troubadour has ever made. Inspired by tragedy and frustration, it's a (mostly) gritty look into the mirror for the Akron native who currently resides in Nashville, Tennessee. The record chronicles Sweany's coping with the premature deaths of two family members, his struggles with perpetual touring, and his battles with the (mostly) ruthless music industry.
Sweany was featured in American Songwriter, CMT Edge, and was even called a "soon-to-be-legendary guitar man" by Rolling Stone following his performance at the Newport Folk Festival last year.
Recently, Esquire premiered the video for his most recent single "Working For You" and said "This is the kind of music Robert Johnson sold his soul for way back when - and Sweany is pouring his into it."
