SPIN Appoints Craig Marks As Editor-in-Chief
LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts) SPIN, a pioneer in cultural journalism for nearly three decades, enters a new era with the appointment of highly regarded digital publishing innovator and music journalist Craig Marks as new Editor-in-Chief.

"I'm thrilled to lead a music brand whose best days, I'm certain, still lie ahead," said Marks. "This is the greatest era ever in which to be a music fan, and SPIN will continue to inform, engage and entertain those fans with the very best digital content."

Marks served most recently as the first-ever Editorial Director at BlogTalkRadio, a social broadcasting platform and, prior to that, co-founded and led the pop culture site, PopDust. He brings to SPIN a proven digital track record and deep understanding of the brand's legacy, where he previously served as an editor for more than seven years. As Editor-in-Chief, Marks will be based in New York and oversee SPIN's editorial content and continued digital development as the brand prepares to celebrate its 30th anniversary next year.

"SPIN is one of the most vibrant brands in music, and no one knows its power better than Craig," said Dale Strang, CEO of SpinMedia Group. "It's a privilege for us to bring aboard an editorial leader with both terrific journalistic credentials and a record of building digital readership."

A 30-year veteran of music and pop culture journalism, Marks has served as a top editor of SPIN, Blender and Billboard, and has written for publications including Rolling Stone, GQ and The New York Times. In 2011, he co-authored "I Want My MTV," a critically-acclaimed history of the music channel's first decade.

SPIN went to a digital-only format in 2012 after running for 27 years in print. Since being acquired by SpinMedia Group, the brand has steadily grown its reader base and continues to invest in video and mobile capabilities.
