Bob Marley and proves to be a charmingly evocative. "

"Time After Time," portrays the final chapter in Baron's book, "I Called Myself Cassandra." In the book, Baron is candid about the heartache she suffered when she was estranged from her husband due to infidelity on both sides. After two years of turmoil, the couple decided to make amends and begin anew. The result is a stronger and more intimate relationship. Baron describes that time in her life as a lesson that allowed her to recognize the gifts in her life and the message of a new sunrise. All of the songs from her debut album, "Feeling Good At Any Age," (Baron is 67 years old) echo these same experiences. "I wanted to make the songs of this album, including 'Feeling Good,' like they're chapters in a book, to try to really capture what I'm thinking about in that season of life," she explains. "This record, to me, is probably one of the most interesting subject-wise. It's a bit retrospective and honors musicians and classics of the past."
Baron's version of "
Time After Time" departs from the "usual" jazz and sultry retro arrangements of the other songs on the CD. Baron's smoky, smooth voice evokes the emotion felt after enduring the two years of marital turmoil and the relief of a brighter day. The arrangement expertly showcases the depth of Baron's vocal range.
Baron's debut album will be officially released in its entirety on July 12, 2014. With the official release of the Filipino-singer's album, others will discover what Lane calls "an amalgam of sound that is genuinely fresh to the ears."
Baron's singular ability to blend tradition with contemporary color comes to the fore on this set of beguiling cover songs, which simultaneously capture the vintage, sepia-toned feel of her experiences with smoky and sultry sophistication of smooth jazz and retro arrangements.
Her voice and this song is the kind of desert island ballad that will immediately bring a smile to the face and put a bounce in the step of everyone around. "
Time After Time" is available on iTunes and MTV.
