Dallas, TX (Top40 Charts/ Powderfinger Promotions) "Onward & Upward," Madison King's sophomore album, is abundant with catchy, heartfelt and meaningful songs. The 26 year-old singer and guitarist hails from Dallas,
Texas and pours the country soul of the Lone Star
State into her songwriting, producing a tracklist bursting with tales of love and loss, depicting the personal growth and self-discovery that blossoms from the cracks of a broken heart. King created an array of radio-friendly songs for this release, with no lack of substance or sincerity, and a hint of hopeful optimism peeking through even the most sorrowful song.
A guitarist since the age of 8 and a singer since 16, King has been developing and sharpening her skills as a musician for just over a decade. Her full, vibrant voice is effortlessly and masterfully controlled, making her virtuosity as a singer one of the more compelling facets of this album. The dobro on songs such as the title track "Onward & Upward," and the banjo on the opening track "You and Me," along with the classic
Texas twang in King's vocals, serve to create Madison King's unique blend of country, rock, pop, and soul. Accompanied by Michael Smith on lead guitar, Jeff Howe on drums, Dave Prez on bass, and John Pedigo on lapsteel and banjo, King and her band create a distinct vibe interwoven with bluegrass and americana influences.
"Onward & Upward" was produced by Paul Williams (Polyphonic Spree, Air Review, Home By Hovercraft, 1100 Springs), mastered at Georgetown Masters in Nashville by Grammy Nominated engineer Andrew Mendelson (Lady Antebellum, Kenny Chesney, Dierks Bentley), and released by
State Fair Records.
