New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) Singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and long-time
Ryan Adams producer Ethan Johns will bring his "haunting and smart" (Esquire) classic folk stateside this
September in support of his "dark and foreboding" (MOJO) album 'The Reckoning' (Aug. 12). The Grammy-nominated Brit Award-winner will hit the road performing his "high-concept" (Esquire) compositions solo at 10 stops including the Americana
Music Festival in Nashville.
'The Reckoning,' Ethan's second solo album, marks his first time switching roles with friend and frequent collaborator Ryan Adams, with Johns owning the songwriting and lead vocal duties over Adams' raw production aesthetics. The album tells the story of fictional character
Thomas Younger as he pursues his wayward older brother
James across the ocean, and eventually into 1850's America's vast Western frontier.
"It will burn your soul," declares
Ryan Adams about 'The Reckoning,' "The record is truly watching the world burn… and it feels so good too."
The son of legendary producer Glyn Johns, Ethan Johns' production credits include Adams, Ray LaMontagne,
Laura Marling,
Kings of Leon, Joe Cocker,
Tom Jones and Paul McCartney. The Reckoning' was released in the UK on June 4th, 2014.
