New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Primary Wave Music) Multi-platinum hip hop group
Cypress Hill joins the talent management roster at Primary Wave Music, a leading independent music marketing, talent management and music publishing company, which also manages artists such as CeeLo Green, Melissa Etheridge, Ginuwine, The Go-Go's, Trevor Jackson, Cris Cab, Audien, among many others. The native South Gate, California band that consists of B-Real, Sen Dog and producer DJ Muggs have reunited to work on a new album that is slated for a spring 2015 release. This is the first time in ten years that the original trio of
Cypress Hill is back together in the studio and their sound is even more psychedelic than ever.
"It's great to have DJ Muggs back at the helm of the production," explains B-Real of Cypress Hill. "When Muggs, Sen and I work together there's a chemistry between us that brings forth powerful music. It's going to be ill, man. He's got fire and a lot of people have been waiting for us to reunite like that, so we're all looking forward to it."
In addition to a new album, the three-time Grammy nominated group is also on the road this summer touring in both the US and Europe. During the tour,
Cypress Hill will join
Slightly Stoopid for three dates and will also be performing at the Gathering of the Juggalos in Ohio on July 26th and at Budweiser's Made In
America Festival on August 30th in Los Angeles.
"It's an honor to be working with the legendary Cypress Hill. They are as fresh and relevant today as they were when they first started," states Deb Klein, talent manager at Primary Wave Music. "Each new generation of youth culture discovers
Cypress Hill and they continue to grow a young and vibrant fanbase as evidenced by their social media and engagement with their fans."
Cypress Hill's self-titled debut album came out in 1991 and sold over 2 million copies. They followed that with the release of
Black Sunday, which debuted #1 on Billboard 200 in 1993 and recorded the highest Soundscan for a rap group up until that time. With their hit "Insane in the Brain" crossing-over to mainstream, the album (Black Sunday) went triple platinum in the US and sold 3.5 million copies. As a result,
Cypress Hill became the first rap group to have 2 albums in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 charts at the same time. They went on to release six more albums and sold over 18 million copies worldwide, becoming the first Latino-American hip-hop group to achieve platinum and multi-platinum success.
