New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Steve Leaf & The Ex-Pats) Chicago space-rock band, Steve Leaf and The Ex-Pats have recently released their full-length debut album "Three Circles and a Speaker". Coinciding with a string of tour dates throughout the Midwest, including multiple festivals and a session with Daytrotter, The Ex-Pats have laid down a solid album of dynamic rock songs, drawing comparisons to early Radiohead while holding onto Leaf's singer-songwriter core.
Leaf says the title Three Circles & A Speaker actually comes from a saying during the Chinese revolution. The "three circles" are a bicycle, a sewing machine, and a wristwatch. The "speaker" is a radio.
"And the saying kind of goes that if you have those four things then you're doing pretty good in life. You don't need much more" says Leaf, "So it's kind of a call for simplicity and to be happy with what you have."
From the brooding story of a lonely astronaut in "Cosmonaut, A Criminal" to the straight forward rock of "Blood in the Snow", Steve Leaf & The Ex-Pats take the listener high and low, interlacing their Michigan-born, Chicago-bred brand of alternative rock & roll with unique tales of intrigue, murder and hypocritical preachers.
Three Circles and a Speaker is available at most online retailers. Vinyl and CD copies available through their website.
