MANTRAS FOR LIFE - The Album
Deva Premal, Miten and Manose's new album, Mantras for Life, is for their global fans interested in a daily mantra-meditation practice, and for anyone who has felt the stress of life in the 21st Century. Rooted in the tradition of Japa, a spiritual discipline of meditatively repeating a mantra 108 times, Deva & Miten invite the listener to join them in chant - and to utilize humanity's most powerful healing tool: the voice.
The album includes chants to invoke specific intentions: for physical strength, for the blessing of children, for poetry, music and learning; for perfect timing; for animal welfare, and for the earth itself.
Miten comments, "Every album has its own spirit. Mantras for Life is all about dedication and commitment. The point being, that commitment to a spiritual path doesn't need to be serious or difficult: sincere, perhaps, but not necessarily serious!"
He continues, "We conceived the album as a tool for communal practice. Our experience over the years is that the mantra practice thrives beautifully on communal participation. Our goal with Mantras for Life is to encourage communal gatherings where friends come together to chant the entire album in one complete session. It is as if the listener/chanter completes the musical circle which, in itself, is the invitation."
Mantras for Life testifies to the success of their invitation. Deva Premal & Miten consider themselves flame carriers of a 5,000-year-old tradition. They continue to deliver mantras in an accessible way for the growing legions of new practitioners who are adopting mantra meditation as a transformational discipline in their everyday lives.
