New York, NY (Top40 Charts) As much as there is an ongoing evolution for Dinner And A Suit, there are things that will always remain unchanged.
Fueled by momentum from their 2012 LP Since Our Departure, the Jersey-born, Nashville-based rock outfit has spent the past two years in motion. There has been non-stop touring, critical praise and global highlights - all building blocks for a band on the rise - that have laid the groundwork for continued exploration.
And so it's fitting that Dinner And A Suit will release their new EP 'STAY' on October 7, 2014.
Written on the road, STAY is like a beam into the unified soul of this dedicated, four-piece band - comprised of singer Jonathan Capeci, guitarist Joey Beretta, bassist Anthony Genca and drummer Drew Scheuer.
"The songs are about being human and finding out who you are; wandering," explains Capeci. "We wanted to be sure that we were being exposed and honest."
Produced by Paul Moak (Lovedrug, The Weeks) at The Smoakstack in Nashville, TN, STAY was recorded live to tape - a first for Dinner And A Suit - and presents the band in their rawest state.
"It was important for us to capture the vibe of our band on this EP," Capeci continues. "Recording live was a way to challenge ourselves in a way that we hadn't before."
The result isn't a new direction for the band, but rather, an illumination of where they're going while staying true to where they've been.
STAY features the same musical consistency that has garnered the band nods like "Latest Obsession" from MTV, "Rising Tide" from Billboard and "Discovery Of The Week" from Last.FM. Yet, the EP is strikingly enhanced by a sonic meld of pulsing organic energy.
Of course, what's most impressive about Dinner And A Suit is the band's ever-present family bond: Capeci & Beretta are cousins and the band name is a nod to their Great Grandmother.
And so STAY represents not only the convergence of a band's musical evolution, but also the mark of a band finding their stride in the midst of an already impressive pace.
"It's one thing to write music from a conceptual standpoint, but when you're playing it from a stage for the better part of two years, you recognize more clearly the things that make you feel something and the things that don't."
