The Saint Paul Conservatory Of Music Announces September Events
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) A new school year is underway at The Saint Paul Conservatory of Music and a number of their music programs are beginning this month as well.

The Saint Paul Conservatory of Music offers both group and individual music instruction programs that start this September. This includes early childhood classes, the famous Suzuki program, vocal music classes, youth classes, ensembles, renaissance and baroque classes and adult classes. All classes are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis and students need to register for group classes at least seven days in advance.

Early childhood classes begin on Sept. 15 and include Early Years, Musical Footprints, Musical Explorers, Take Five, Intro to the Keyboard and Ukulele for Children. Child-centered and based on active involvement in making and responding to music, progression through classes is determined by the child. Classes are designed to be repeated in order to reinforce musical concepts in the context of new songs, improvisations, and activities that offer challenge and variety.

Early Years is a class for children ages 18 months to 3 years and include caregivers and children. The class introduces children to music for the first time with singing, dancing and playing instruments. Musical Footprints is a child-independent class for children ages 3 to 4 years focusing on music fundamentals. The Musical Explorers class for children ages 3 to 6 years, and parents if they wish to join, explores musical movement and instruments in a group setting. Take Five, for parents with their child ages 4 to 6 years, allows for a deeper exploration of musical instruments like the piano, guitar, drums and harp. Intro to the Keyboard explores keyboard concepts and is for kindergarten and first grade students. Ukulele for Children focuses on tuning, strumming, chords and songs for students between 5 to 7 years old learning the ukulele.

Suzuki classes follow the teachings of Dr. Shinichi Suzuki and his "talent education" method to keep things fun while learning technique, balance and form in both group and individual settings. Students take both private and group lessons.

Vocal music classes allow students to participate in a chorus as part of the St. Paul Children's Chorus or Let's Sing Broadway, which replicates the production of a Broadway musical. The St. Paul Children's Chorus is free to all students registered for a year of private lessons on with any instrument.

There's also a rock band class for students between the ages of 8 and 16. Students will learn rock songs and perform them in a final concert. Intermediate and advanced students can participate in the Children's String Ensemble as well as Chamber Music Experience. It's a great way to learn music with others.

Our Baroque and Renaissance program offers private and partnered lessons as well as group classes for youth to adults. The classes to choose from include Kinder Gamba and Kinder Recorder, Renaissance Band and Baroque Chamber Ensembles. There's also an Advanced Viola Da Gamba Consort for viola da gamba players who have a minimum of five years experience.

Other adult classes include the Clarinet Choir for high school students and adults and Adult Flute Choir for intermediate and advanced adult students.

A special one day chamber music workshop, SPCM Chamber Music Day Op. 2, will be offered on Saturday, October 18th, from Noon-5pm . Both kids and adults are welcome. We will put together duos, trios, or quartets of musicians who are at a similar playing ability.
