New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Open All Nite Entertainment/ UE3 Promotions) Soulful music innovator's video "
Bring It On" and live show open up a world of sonic, rhythmic and compositional possibilities that have driven her success as a multi-faceted, trip-hop and electronic-infused folk-pop indie artist.
The crafty multi-instrumentalist and artistic entertainer,
Angela Sheik delivers a tour de force performance in her debut single and video "
Bring It On" from her new release "
Home Before Dark" with a provocative visual featuring a battle between centuries-old
Pierrot clowns.
""
Bring It On" is a song about the chaotic, brutal, and sometimes ludicrous nature of life and how we long for something bigger than ourselves to whisper in the darkest hour that we're not alone." says Sheik.
Angela sings of the longing to know that all will be made right, that nothing is too big or dangerous to overcome, that someone powerful is looking out for us, so bring it on. The video depicts a lone mime that is being bullied and beaten up by Pierrot-style clowns. Eventually, mime reinforcements arrive and an over-the-top mime/clown battle ensues, spilling "Blazing Saddles" style into Angela's performance of the song. "The mimes and clowns are a depiction of the violent craziness that life throws at us all" continues Sheik. "In the end, I'm left standing triumphant over a defeated pile of brawlers, singing, "This ain't nothing for me, son. Bring it on."
In support of "
Home Before Dark", officially releasing Tuesday,
September 16th and already receiving rave reviews including a "10 out of 10" from Indie Digest, Sheik embarks on a 10 city tour through parts of the northeast and midwest including stops at the renowned Rockwood
Music Hall in New York City and a live interview and performance in Washington DC with the world-wide internationally known music show Border Crossings on Voice Of America.
Several of the dates will feature
Angela accompanied by a 7-piece band, including drums, guitar, bass, as well as cello, violin, and two backup singers lending an Andrews Sisters style vocal arrangement to several of the songs.
Angela will also perform a number of songs solo, surrounded by her various loopers, instruments, and machines.
In a unique offering to fans at her shows,
Angela makes her albums available under a "Choose Your Own Price" method. "My albums aren't free, but I like to ask for a donation rather than set a price. This usually works out well for everyone. Those who are supportive and able to donate more do. Those who can't are still able to take the album home. It all keeps me on the road, and I just trust that it will all work out in the end."
