NASHVILLE, TN. (DreamWorks Nashville) - Apparently, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, at least not in Toby Keith's family tree. The DreamWorks superstar has teamed up with his teenage daughter Krystal on a cover of "Mockingbird," the classic hit made famous in 1974 by
James Taylor and Carly Simon, only this time with a bit of
Toby Keith kick to it. The track will be included on Toby's upcoming greatest hits CD set for release November 9th.
Krystal recorded the song with her dad in Nashville with Toby, James Stroud and Lari White producing. Up until now Krystal has sung the national anthem at a few Toby Keith concerts, but that may change after this.
Said Toby, "Krystal and I used to sing Mockingbird at home all the time. It sounded so good we decided to cut it as a track on the Greatest Hits 2 CD. Krystal is an incredible singer and it is just as good as it gets to work with her. She did a great job on the song and I am so proud of her."
The reigning ACM Entertainer of the Year also recently received six nominations for the CMA Awards, among them Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist, Album of the Year, Single, Video and Musical Event. He will perform at the ceremony set for November 9.
Toby has also been nominated in the Male Vocalist and Best Country Album categories for this year's American Music Awards and is scheduled to perform at the AMAs Nov. 14. In addition, he has been nominated for two Radio Music Awards for Artist of the Year and Song of the Year for his smash hit single "I Love This Bar."
Toby's latest album Shock 'N Y'All is quadruple-platinum, while the single "Stays In Mexico" from his upcoming release Greatest Hits 2 is currently Top 5 after becoming the highest debuting single of his career.
The album features tracks including "How Do You Like Me Now!?," "Country Comes To Town," "You Shouldn' Kiss Me Like This," "I'm Just Talkin' About Tonight," "I Wanna Talk About Me," "My List," "Courtesy Of The Red, White & Blue (The Angry American)," "Who's Your Daddy?," "Beer For My Horses" (with Willie Nelson), "Stays In Mexico," "You Ain't Much Fun" (live) and "Should've Been A Cowboy" (live).
