NEW YORK (The Orchard/ www.theorchard.com/ www.fiercepanda.co.uk) - The Orchard, the world's leading distributor and marketer of independent music, along with label partner Fierce Panda, will digitally re-release a rare track by the UK band Keane. The track is now available at iTunes in the U.S. and Metrotunes in the UK and will soon be available at all other major U.S. and European digital music services including eMusic, MSN music Club, Napster and others. Keane's "The Way You Want It" is one of three tracks on the band's first single for UK Independent Label Fierce Panda, released in May 2003 in a limited run of 1,500 copies. This exclusive track does not appear on any other Keane releases and is virtually impossible to find, even on eBay. The band's 2004 debut full-length album "Hopes and Fears" reached No 1 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart and sold a million albums in the UK. The album was included on the prestigious Mercury Prize Shortlist as one of 12 UK Albums of the Year. Blender Magazine called the album "comprehensively gorgeous." Its single, "Somewhere Only We Know," has received heavy airplay on VH1 and MTV. The band has performed on "The Late Show with David Letterman," "Top of The Pops" and "Jimmy Kimmel Live." "The Orchard partnering with Fierce Panda to make available this rare Keane track demonstrates the promise of digital services: shattering the restrictive distribution system that has for decades controlled what music is available to consumers, and replacing it with flexibility, freedom and choice," said Greg Scholl chief executive of The Orchard and managing director of Dimensional Associates, the company which owns both The Orchard and eMusic. "It is a perfect example of The Orchard's commitment to connect music fans with songs they want but can't find." "Keane's 'The Way You Want It' is a wonderful track from the originallimited edition of 'Everybody's Changing,' which sold out immediately," adds Fierce Panda GM Phil Ingles. "It's now almost impossible to find, so we're excited that it will be available to download along with other Fierce Panda classics. It's too good of a song to remain out-of-print."
