Lakeshore Records Presents 'Nightcrawler' Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
New York, NY (Top40 Charts / CineMedia Promotions) Lakeshore Records will release the NIGHTCRAWLER - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack digitally on October 14, 2014, and on CD October 28, 2014. The album features original music by James Newton Howard (BLOOD DIAMOND, MALEFICENT).

"It's a score by James Newton Howard that recalls the hypnotic melodies he composed for Michael Mann's COLLATERAL- another City of Angels noir set during the wee hours of the night, and for which this film feels like a distant, crazy cousin." says the Hollywood Reporter.

"Excellent moody score" says Indiewire.com.

NIGHTCRAWLER is a pulse-pounding thriller set in the nocturnal underbelly of contemporary Los Angeles. Jake Gyllenhaal stars as Lou Bloom, a driven young man desperate for work who discovers the high-speed world of L.A. crime journalism. Finding a group of freelance camera crews who film crashes, fires, murder and other mayhem, Lou muscles into the cut-throat, dangerous realm of nightcrawling -- where each police siren wail equals a possible windfall and victims are converted into dollars and cents. Aided by Rene Russo as Nina, a veteran of the blood-sport that is local TV news, Lou blurs the line between observer and participant to become the star of his own story.

James Newton Howard is one of the most versatile and respected composers currently working in films. To date, Howard has received eight Oscar® nominations, including six for Best Original Score for his work on DEFIANCE, MICHAEL CLAYTON, THE VILLAGE, THE FUGITIVE, THE PRINCE OF TIDES, and MY BEST FRIEND'S WEDDING. He was also nominated for Best Original Song for the films JUNIOR and ONE FINE DAY.

Howard, along with Hans Zimmer, won the 2009 Grammy® Award for the score for THE DARK KNIGHT. He has also received Grammy Award nominations for music from BLOOD DIAMOND, DINOSAUR, SIGNS, and the song from ONE FINE DAY. In addition, he won an Emmy® Award for the theme to the Andre Braugher series GIDEON'S CROSSING, and received two additional Emmy nominations for the themes to the long-running Warner Bros. series ER and the Ving Rhames series MEN. Howard has also been nominated four times for Golden Globe Awards for his massive orchestral score for Peter Jackson's blockbuster remake of KING KONG; for the songs from JUNIOR and ONE FINE DAY; and for his provocative symphonic score for DEFIANCE.

Howard, who has been honored with ASCAP's prestigious Henry Mancini Award for Lifetime Achievement, now has more than 120 films to his credit. Among them MALEFICENT, THE HUNGER GAMES, THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE, SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN, THE BOURNE LEGACY, SALT, GNOMEO & JULIET, THE GREEN HORNET, and HILDAGO, among others.

After Dan Gilroy's NIGHTCRAWLER Howard's upcoming projects include Ed Zwick's PAWN SACRIFICE, and Francis Lawrence's THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY - PART 1.

Open Road Films and Bold Films present NIGHTCRAWLER in theaters October 31, 2014. The NIGHTCRAWLER - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack will be available digitally October 14, 2014 and on CD October 28, 2014.
