New York, NY (Top40 Charts) If you've ever tried to surf, it can be a daunting task to stand up on your board and catch a wave. Honolulu's surfing saxophonist, Reggie Padilla, does it with grace and precision. Then, it's time to play the saxophone! You heard right, playing the saxophone while surfing. As one of Honolulu's busiest sidemen on saxophone, Reggie starts most of his days with a surf session.
Since the summer, Reggie's been hard at work promoting his 2nd full length release, "They Come And They Go" (Pass Out Records). A fitting title that references the presence and absence of "inspiration" in our lives. One can also say that just like the waves breaking on shore, they too "come and they go."
A fruitful dose of inspiration is Reggie's partnership with GoPro. The company provides Reggie with several cameras and accessories to capture his unique love of surfing and music for the world to see. His video is featured on GoPro's official site and has garnered over 140,000 views since the summer.
"They Come And They Go" hopes to inspire fans both new and old with an eclectic mix of original hard hitting jazz compositions backed by a stellar rhythm section comprised of Thelonious Monk
Institute alums Romain Collin (piano), Shawn Conley (bass) and Abe Lagrimas, Jr. (drums).
The Surfing Saxophonist keeps busy by balancing himself on his surfboard and playing the sax. In addition to a growing worldwide fan base, courtesy of Facebook's "Jam Of The Week" viral videos, Reggie looks to add another skill in his balancing act: being a new father in a month or so. He and his wife are expecting a son.
Pay attention and get stoked to Reggie Padilla's "They Come And They Go," otherwise you'll end up wiping out!
