New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Trace Adkins will kick off The Christmas Show 2014 Tour tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 14th, at West Point in
Highland Falls, NY. He's continuing the tradition he started last year - giving reverent, family-friendly shows that feature humorous and historical narration as well as gorgeous, Celtic carols that he performs with his twelve-piece "Sarepta Symphony." Renowned Scottish singer, Alyth McCormack will join Trace at each stop.
Yesterday, on HLN's Morning Express with
Robin Meade, Trace said, "It's old, traditional carols and we put the Celtic treatment to them - bagpipes, violins and everything. Musically, it's the most beautiful thing I've ever had the chance to be a part of."
As an early Christmas gift, participating venues will gift a copy of Trace's first-ever Christmas album, THE KING'S GIFT to ticket buyers along with their ticket purchase. The album, which was released in 2013, received rave reviews for its respectful tribute to an ancient genre that transports the listener to a time of mystery and valor.
Associated Press - "The renditions here of "Tannenbaum," ''Away in a Manger" and "
O Holy Night" manage to sound fresh thanks to that oh-so-deep voice and new arrangements heavy on the soaring strings, flutes and mandolins."
Billboard - "Close to twenty years into his recording career, this music shows a different side of Adkins - one not so much based on bravado or sing-a-long lyrics but rather one of the greatest voices in the format."
New York Times - "If you enjoy your holiday music being sung to you by the purring engine of a Ford F-150 pickup, Trace Adkins's debut holiday album, "The King's Gift," is as close as you'll come. Mr. Adkins is one of country music's premier stoics, and the songs on this Celtic-influenced album serve as a reminder of how traditional country songwriting plays to Mr. Adkins's strengths."
This year, as Trace again hits the road for the holidays, he has released The Christmas Show DVD. It features performances from esteemed guests Alyth McCormack,
Andrea Zonn and Lily Costner, behind the scenes interviews with Trace, and was filmed during last year's tour stop at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater, FL. The DVD is now available at retailers such as Wal-Mart, Target, Barnes & Noble, online retailers and TraceAdkins.com.
