Americana Music Honors & Awards To Air On PBS's "Austin City Limits," Featuring Robert Plant, Ry Cooder
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Austin City Limits (ACL) heads to Nashville for a special broadcast featuring performance highlights from this year's Americana Honors & Awards. ACL Presents: Americana Music Festival 2014 premieres this Saturday, November 22, on PBS stations across the United States and includes performances from Robert Plant and Ry Cooder, among many others. The show was recorded live at the Americana Music Association's 13th Annual Honors & Awards ceremony at Nashville's historic Ryman Auditorium in September.

On the special performance-filled episode, Robert Plant joins frequent collaborator Patty Griffin in blended harmony for a beautiful rendition of her hit song "Ohio." Honoring another longtime collaboration, guitarist extraordinaire Ry Cooder accompanies Tejano accordionist and Lifetime Achievement Honoree Flaco Jimenez with his trademark norteƱo music in a performance of "Ingrato Amor."

Ry Cooder and his son, percussionist Joachim Cooder, can be heard throughout the broadcast as part of the Americana All-Stars, backing the evening's performers as the ace house band. Led by musical director Buddy Miller, also named Instrumentalist of the Year (who has produced recent Nonesuch albums by Carolina Chocolate Drops and Shawn Colvin), the ensemble also performs the Willie Dixon classic "You Can't Judge a Book by Its Cover," joined by emcee Jim Lauderdale.

Among the evening's other performers are Loretta Lynn, Jackson Browne, Jason Isbell, Rosanne Cash, Taj Mahal, and Duo/Group Americana Award winners The Milk Carton Kids, a Los Angeles-based acoustic folk duo that can be heard on the forthcoming Nonesuch release, Another Day, Another Time: Celebrating the Music of "Inside Llewyn Davis."

"If there was a heat sensor for creativity pointed at the planet earth, the Americana Honors & Awards would be RED HOT on the gradient chart," says Americana Music Association Executive Director Jed Hilly, adding "it's truly humbling to host this event and we are honored to partner with the best in the land, Austin City Limits, to present the program for PBS viewers."

The hour-long program airs November 22 on PBS as part of ACL's milestone Season 40 (which also includes sets from Nickel Creek and The Black Keys, the latter taped earlier this week). ACL airs weekly on PBS stations nationwide (check local listings for times), and full episodes are made available online for a limited time at video.pbs.org immediately following the initial broadcast.
