New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Rock soul band (i am) isis' new EP, "Mosiac", featuring an eclectic fusion of rock, spoken soul and bluesy funk for the new millennium, is out now. The band has also released remastered visuals to their lead single, "Get Free," in support of human rights issues being addressed around the globe, from police/community relations in Ferguson, MO to inadequate medical resources in West African countries fighting Ebola.
"(i am) isis compels your soul to open up and receive [their] message of freedom, while hitting you with funky, pop-rock-R&B rhythms," said Datwon Thomas, editor-in-chief of Respect Magazine. "[Their] mesh of style and sound overwhelms and embraces at the same time. isis is sure to save some sinners with her level of talent."
Formed and fronted by spoken soul rocker isis, its members include bassist Mike Koltosky, drummer Manny Mavrakis, guitarist Diamond Dave, and keyboardist Isaac Childs. The Newark-born, Minneapolis-raised poet/singer has been described as "an edgy and fresh brand of soulful truth", who is both haunting and mesmerizing. The band's live shows showcase an affinity for rock-infused guitars and thrashing delivery and has been characterized as an energetic explosion of power and grace.
Mosaic marks (i am) isis' first all-band release and consists of six songs, including what they call a dirty remake of isis' popular "Soul Rebel" and "
Take It Back", which VIBE Vixen has dubbed a "no-nonsense, head-banging, unabashed girl-power anthem."
