Skylar Grey Records Vocals For "Bed Of Lies" From Home With Apogee Quartet
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Apogee Electronics) There's a lot that goes into recording a hit song. Forgetting the obvious hurdles of writing the song and releasing it to the world, music recording studios can often require significant rental fees, well-paid producers, session musicians, engineers, repair techs, and much more that all amount to a hefty budget. With this in mind, recording artists often find it necessary to be signed to a label to be able to afford a decent recording of their songs. It's not hard to imagine that all of this could put a damper on some artist's creativity. For years, multi-track home recording has been within reach but has often fallen short of studio "hit song" quality. This has been recently changing, however, with audio recording interfaces for Mac like Apogee's Quartet and Duet, which provide truly professional results that virtually anyone can use.

Writing and recording the majority of her songs from her home in Utah, singer/songwriter Skylar Grey is able to remain comfortable, in her element and capture her most organic performances without needing to step foot in a recording studio. A true testament to the advancement of home recording technology, her vocals on the recently released track with Nicki Minaj "Bed of Lies" were recorded entirely from her home with the help of Apogee's Quartet. This setup has become the go-to rig for the majority of Grey's work, as it allows her to efficiently write songs, record and send them to the biggest artists, producers and mix engineers in the world without having to leave the comfort of her home.

Recording radio-ready tracks from home was not always possible for Grey, as other compact recording interfaces she tried simply wouldn't cut it. Prior to discovering the Apogee Quartet and Duet (which she used to record all vocals on her album "Don't Look Down"), the interfaces she was using had too much noise, limited dynamic range and the analog-to-digital audio conversion would make her tracks sound thin and brittle.

While there are certainly things about a commercial recording studio that cannot be easily replaced by a modest home setup - a vibrant sounding live room for drums, for example - Grey is one of many artists that proves the quality of Apogee's Quartet and Duet can make professional results accessible to anyone.
